Paint matching amps?

I have a quick question. I think i know what the answer is i just thought id ask some opinions of some more seasoned experts...

I want to colour match my amps to my exterior. I have seen it done alot with show and shine cars only...and noting with any sort of use i dont think. My question is would painting the heatsink cause a lack of heat dissipation and potentially make it that much easier to over heat? What if i added some 12v fans under the amps to cool them. I planned on doing this anyways...I was just wondering how much heat dissipation woul dbe lost by adding paint to the heat sink?

Thanks,
Kyle.

There shouldn't be any heat dissipation issues, but if you're really worried, then strip the paint off the amp with some acetone, then reprime it and paint it. I've done it before, it's not a big deal. I may even do it with the install I'm currently working on.

there a pair of us amps. a md2 and a md42. There anodized aluminum not painted as they are now. Thats why im worried about it.

I dont think it would cause a huge issue. I just thought id see what other member thought.

Could you get them matched if they were powder coated?

Going from a navy blue colour to black can increase heat dissipation by 75%. If the amps are light in colour and you're going darker, not really an issue. If they're darker and you're going lighter, may need a fan to help cooling.

The amps are annodized silver. and i want to paint them flat black. they will have a fan regardless. and they will be in the cab and have ample air flow. Should be ok?
