Please Help a Newb...

Hi, I am interested in installed a car audio system into the 2001 Prelude i just bought recently, can someone recommend me somethings i should check or do prior to buying a sound system? What do I all need to purchase to complete a sound system? What brand? How much watts?

I am a complete newb and i have no idea where to start and i know pretty much absolutely nothing about sound systems!

I am looking in purchasing a decent sound system with GOOD BASS. Nothing to Overly priced or Powerful enough to pop off my trunk, or nothing to cheap that no different from stock audio system.

I apologize if this is in the wrong section, i just registered in search of some guidance and i dont know where else to ask for help on the forum.

And thanks for taking the time to read this.

for a sound system you will need:

Head Unit: either stock or aftermarket
Front Speakers: Normally 2-way components
Rear Speakers: Normally Coaxial, 2-ways would be over kill unless you are all about SQ
Sub-Woofer: a 10" would probly be good for you

and you will also need:
4ch Amp
Mono Amp
and probly a Capacitor or the big 3 done...

as for recommendation, I can only recommend going to a car audio store or even best buy or future shop and listen to the different speakers and amps they have setup and get what you like.
