well... I'm going to be setting up my secod amp and already when i turn the volume up i'm having my lights dim... even the display of the head unit dims... so... i was told a power cap isn't good for the electrical in the car... load of i think but w/e... he said a power supply... aka bigger power cap would be better. but honestly. could i git someones friggn opinion... someone who actually knows something... because sometimes these idiots in the store know all.

you are asking for trouble with that question, lol.

you are NOT going to get a definitive answer on here. some people love them, some people hate them.

personally i like them for everyday music listening.

my reasoning is as follows.....
"i thought the whole idea of the cap is because it CAN put out its power in 34milliseconds. a batt and alternator can't deliver it that quickly, even if they can put it out.

isn't it just a bandaid for a system that can keep up, but is just a little slow of its feet? if a system can't keep up it can't keep up. the cap just buffers a decent system for that .5 second or whatever it is to allow the batt/alt to actually deliver the power. after that it would be useless, but it isn't meant for sustained voltage, just that quick charge/discharge in between "

The issue as described by the OP seems bigger than a cap can solve... is your stereo that big or your car that lousy electrically?

A bigger alternator is the solution, but a cap will help the system if (and I believe) there is no larger alt for your car/funds don't allow a rebuild of the current alt. Big 3 is step #1 especially in an Accent. No offense, but that car is build for economy, not performance in any degree. This is a case of helping lacking systems in the car, not throwing money at components that are believed to solve problems. If that all makes sense

ya i thought he was asking for opinions on caps from the title.

you guys are right though...bigger problems elsewhere and other stuff that should be done first (big three etc.)

lol yeah... the big 3 is on my list of too doo's... but have to git time and wire for that... and eventually a new battery will probably be needed sometime this winter... but that's good to know... saves me 100 bucks on something that really doesn't do much...

Caps help most on Class D sub amps, where they can use the extra energy on bass tranisents.
But I am not sure most of the "1F caps" you see for under $100 are really a full 1F (esp these days).

I have run a a 5F for Alumapro for a few years now and really been pleased with it.
