power options

okay well i'm looking for some options as to take some of the pressure off my alternator basically. I want to do something in order to be able to get another sub and a 1000w amp. My alternator is basically going to kick the bucket soon since my car is a power hungry beast. I have a 4 channel 600w amp and a 1000w mono amp. I've been told that to add another 1000w amp and sub would drain the crap out of my battery and alternator. Thing is my battery already dies very quickly. What are some options? I've thought about adding a second battery to lighten the load on my alternator. Any other ideas?

Adding a second battery will not really lighten the load on the alternator if anything it will increase it as now it has to run your equipment and charge 2 batteries. The best thing is to have a good battery and look at replacing your alternator with a high output one.

the only real way to take the pressure off your alternator is to either remove your stereo equipment or get a larger alternator that doesn't have to work as hard. You could also get a proper car audio battery like a yellow top optima(less internal charging resistance and all the other good stuff) so that the new alternator has less work to do. If your worried about your alt and it's on it's way out, I suggest you not wait until it goes. Get it fixed now!

high output alternator, larger guage power and ground wires, yellow top battery...and turn it down a little.
