Price for custom enclosure

It really depends on if it is a square box, or if you want angles to match seatbacks etc. $60 an hour is probably only $10 an hour more than the average. What the 'enthusiast' always forgets when they say "It doesn't take that long and is cheap to do it yourself" is the extra costs besides the actual wood. Don't forget:
1. Carpet or other covering.
2. Brad nails or screws.
3. Glue and possibly silicone (more than likely when doing the cuts by the average amateur or home depot type place.
4. Terminal cup.
5. Speaker wire and connectors.
6. Spray glue or contact cement for carpet.
Then you need items such as:
1 Table saw, skill saw, or home depot peon to make cuts.
2 Router, or jigsaw to cut speaker and terminal cup hole.
3 Brad Nailer and compressor or drill with counter sink and predrill bit.
If you are doing it professionally you need to pay an installer to do it, pay for the electricity to run any tools, pay for heat or AC during the time the work is done, pay for lighting to see what you are doing.
If you are doing it yourself you have to figure in gas costs to drive to and from the Home Depot to get supplies, time lost witing around waiting for the peon to cut your wood (that you could have spent doing something more productive), pay for the electricity to run any tools, pay for heat or AC during the time the work is done, pay for lighting to see what you are doing.
As you can see there is more to think about than just the 23.99 a sheet of MDF costs.

60 dollars an hour is too high for a professional ...... what do plumbing, electrical, mechanical, body, and upolstry shops charge......
although I will say for 300 bucks it better be darn near perfect .......
luckily for me my brother inlaw knows his way around a chunk of wood

i charge 50 an hour
thing is comparing us to electricians or plumbers
we need a store front mutiple insurance policys
and 50 an hour is to much
as plumber or electricians overhead is a van and gas
and they are well over 60 an hour here

If you are willing to go to HWY 7 and Pine valley(woodbridge area), you can check out 20Hz audio(905-264-5565), They built my 4.5 cube ported box(to my specs)for 3x12's using 3/4 mdf and carpeted for 250.00. The guys are pretty cool but are very busy, so be patient. The quality is A1 and the sound is great.

You said you won't even get out the tools for less than $300 and you charge $50/hr.
So it takes you 6hrs to make a very basic sealed box?
(I've always built mine in stages, so I honestly have no idea how much I spent putting them all together... so I'm wondering, not flaming)
