but you do realize that pinning gains and eq's changes nothing with respect to loudness and spl, right?

this tells me that IF this story is true that MTX is a whole bunch of noobs and simply have no clue.

Who over-rated the Jackhammer? If anything, the Jackhammer has been viewed with scepticism from it's inception. One could say that the general audio community considers it merely a propaganda tool rather than a serious piece of SPL equipment. Ask on any Car Audio related webboard and this will be the general opinion. Sure, MTX says it's awesome, but every brand says their products are awesome.

So, who levied this rating you are refuting?

Or are you referring to the perceived opinion of the general populace of mouth breating cretins that litter the planet? These same people consider Sony and Bose as credible brands as well, so their opinion is laughable at best. If this is the case, then good for you - you have outwitted the cretins!

those "scientists" on that show would have blown any brand and number of subs by doing that to any car in the world...

Deathmatch is done with low power, like 1-2kW each sub.

regaurdless of what anybody says about that sub... i would still love to own one if for nothing eles then to say that i have owned a jackhammer.... mtx just wanted to make the biggest, loudest, heviest. sub on the planet...... and i say they have done it... hell its recieved tons of media for them.. everyone can make a 10-12-15-18 but not alot have a 22 thats in production ,can take 5kw, and sound half decent while hitting respectable spl #s the problem with these massive drivers is the cost to expected outcome is way out of wack. but isent that what this whole hobbie is about

Its ok to be an MTX fan boy but...

Jack hammer is the loudest sub in the world? Where are their records? If they were the loudest subs in the world everyone would buy them. Regardless of the costs.

weather or not the jackhammer is over rated, it's still a rather pointless, over hyped and expenssive peice of a speaker.

sure it can take 5kw, but so can a ton of other subs that are half the size and quarter of the cost. not to mention tenth the weight.

it sure is a statement, im just not sure of what. it's nothing new, MTX has created a sub that was MUUUUUUUUCH bigger than the jackhammer years ago. A number of companies came out with subs bigger than jackhammer as well.

This speaker was 5 feet in diameter, was also made by MTX. Sure was a statement, but a rather useless peice.

jackhammer is not the loudest sub in the world, matter of fact MTX does not hold any current or recent loudness or spl records.

it's because the bro's wanted their subs to be bigger than their bro's alpine type E's. Bigger = Better? Hardly. 10" tfone > 22" mtx jackhammer.
