question about alternator

I was just wondering if rebuilding your alternator to run at more power is worth it, or would the big 3 be good enough, or both?

BIG 3 is definatly worth doing. Its probably the cheapest and most efficent way to upgrade your electrcal

Now in doing so, is there a required wire gauge I should be using? I've heard of using welding wire for it.

I'd use 4awg or 1/0awg wiring. Welding wire is a great choice, but your everyday traditional car audio power wire will do just fine.

Is welding wire more coarse (thicker strands) than "car audio" wire?

Now I got 1/0 gauge wire. Now does it matter if it's welding or audio connectors on the end. Does it matter? Cheaper more expensive?

Lightbulb

You will need connectors, but copper is copper, it doesn't really care how pretty the insulation is......

Higher strand counts are better.....how much of a difference it makes over 3 or 4 feet has been debated forever.....

i thought more strands was just better for flex. and thicker wire is stiff.. but both pass the same current.. i have some 2/0 im planing to use but one is thick and one has lots of strands
