Question about funny sub smell.

That's also a possibility. The thinner the wire, the higher the amp draw, the more heat generated. So check that as well... The best bet to check the subs is put an ohm meter on it and check for 4 ohms resistance at each coil.

Thanks for the responses, it gave me a few things to think about, including the eventuality of new subs It still seems strange to me, I'd like to add that i am running a 1 farad capacitor and that the problem has only occurred when the vehicle was OFF, i have no idea if that had anything to do with it.....
