Questions about type R and ampew

Few simple questions from a newbie,

I bought an Alpine MRV-T757 its looks to be a few years old, I think the specs on it are as follows:

• Max Power (EIAJ) 225Wx2 (4ohm; Stereo) 750Wx1 (Bridged 4ohm
• 12V RMS Continuous Power 4ohm; Stereo (0.08% THD) 75Wx2 2ohm; Stereo (0.3% THD) 150x2 Bridged 4ohm; (0.3% THD) 300x1
• 14.4V RMS Continuous Power 4ohm; Stereo (0.08% THD) 100Wx2 2ohm; Stereo (0.3% THD) 200x2 Bridged 4ohm; (0.3% THD) 400x1
• Frequency Response 10-50kHz

I also have a new Alpine type R 12" 2ohm dual coil.

Can I match this amp up with this sub, if so how would i wire it to power the sub properly?
sub says 500watt rms, but i believe if i use this amp on my 2 ohm sub, it would only produce 300 watts? I could be wrong, the amp did power 2 Older kickers the guy told me so i would think it could power just a single 12".

also if this amp wont work with this sub, for whatever reason. what would you recommend would i be alright with an infinity 611a (i think)?

thanks

Your amp will do 400X1@4ohms, so wire your voice coils in series. + in from amp then - to the other + then negative back out to amp.

So my amp will be under powering this sub, would you recommend for me to upgrade my amp to something that will throw out more power. i think i read somewhere its a bad idea to under power in a sealed enclosure.
