Raise Time
This is not a public forum, also he did not undermine anyone or how the shop is run he simply said that his "install lead" doesn't do as much work as him.He was also asking advice on how to approach the raise situation. The dynamics of working at a BB store is such that you are just a number and when it comes to raises or any other recognition we get none. We have to be assertive and go out and get it.There is also the question on wether the install lead has the credentials to to the job he is being paid for. In the smaller places I'm sure you know your installers a little better and have a better idea of who deserves what, and in your situation it wouldn't get that far. The problem is the "install leads" get significantly more pay for in our case, for doing less work alot less. You gotta earn your keep as far as I'm concerned. Does anybody have constructive advice as I will be in the same boat when I get my certification.

i gave him good advice and replied with a poor response.....one that if i was his boss and read woild have fired him for......if he doesnt like the working confines of his current employer then perhaps he should find another one that is willing to accomodate his poor attitude
You don't know FS then. Some of the managers would slit their moms throat if it meant more money for them. Also they have to steal ideas from us because they are not car guys or installers they are sales guy's that only care about the bottom line. I know seductives situation his install lead is lazy so is mine(Although mine is no where near as bad. Mine is skilled and can be fast just lazy!)If seductive does not force the issue nothing will happen. Your advice is the best here(SQmonster). To the guy's that would fire him your either the lazy guy that he's complaining about or your the employer who would have fired the lazy guy and given the other guy the raise he deservese.
Is this Craig Posting???from Ultimate
To the OP
Don't you have your own Business and have Alpine, Sundown Audio among other Suppliers that gave you a contract for your shop.
So why still work for F/S if you have all this
I work from home on my own. All the money I make on the side (outside futureshop) stays in the Seductive Sounds bank account.
Seductive Sounds is a bit slow to start up.
Sales aren't as good as they could be.
FS is my bread & butter money.

Really its only a conflict of interest if I am taking customers out of the store to do work on the side.
Which I will agree is just wrong. I have customers ask me all the time if I do work on the side.
My answer.... "No, I do not do work on the side."
My GM is also fully aware that I am doing my own work on my own time.
When I am at work at FS, I am an employee of FS, no one else.
I dont make any mention of any products that I sell.
Even if what I would be able to sell them would be a better fit for what they want.
I have my own dedicated customers that come to me at home.
I only do custom work from home, nothing basic.
I've been working out of my house close to 10 years.
I am also not selling on the internet.
And I have to start somewhere with my growing business.
I need a full time job to pay the bills and what not since the bank doesn't seem
to want to help me out in the way of financing to get up off the ground.
Anyways how did this get SO off topic?
As for a raise, does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about asking tactfully?
