Raise Time

Raise Time
So I've now written my AEAT, I'm pretty sure I passed.
Now once I have received the letter stating that I've passed I'd like to ask for a raise.
Having a COQ (Certificate of Qualification) is an asset for my current position.
However with me wanting to move up it is manditory.
How would you go about asking for a raise?
I need to find a tactful way of doing it,
I can't just walk in to my GM's office and demand a raise.
I want more than that lousy 3% yearly crap.
I'm thinking more along the lines of asking for an even $15/hr. ($2.14/hr raise)
It's a restricted trade here in Ontario.
I shouldn't even be doing remote starters without my lead being here.
I have reason to believe that my lead doesn't even has his AEAT.

I'm working at FutureShop.
My lead is making at least $17 +10% of all the work that leaves the bay.
I do more work than he does, he's riding on my back on my dollar, not to mention
he's trying to pass of my ideas and suggestions as his own.
I want his job and him gone, but since that won't happen, I think I should get a raise.

How long have you been installing for...professionally?
I would ask in a matter of fact kind of way (nothing personal, just professional). State your case. "I am making your company lots of money. I am improving my abilities. I am providing you with a better team atmosphere (ability to solve issues for myself and others). I believe that an increase to $15.00 an hour is appropriate at this time.
I like that people can be upfront and honest. Stop stabbing your superior in the back in public. It will get you looking for a new job quickly. This is a very small business. Word will get around and bite you in the ***. Just pay your dues, do a great job and your time will come.
