yes the deck will put out enough power to produce nice sound...i have my 4 speakers running off my deck and they are more than loud enough for me....i like it loud

The TS164P are factory quality speakers. I wouldn't bother with those. Also I would not bother with components unless you are planning on running an amp in the near future. You should be able to find some good deals on clearance stuff this time of year. Like I said though, listen for yourself and decide.

If you are willing to go to an alpine dealer, I would definitely recommend the sps-170a 61/2 co-axials. I had these before and for the 99.00 I paid they were great, nice and crisp with good midrange. Excellent speaks for the money. Don't limit yourself to just one shop.

cool, i very much appreciate all the input.

but before i go out and buy new speakers, what are your thoughts on this deal?

i've been offered 4 used pioneer 6 1/2 speakers. around 3 years old

they are TS-A1640 2 way coaxial
and TS-A1645 2 way coaxial

how much would you pay for this? $30? $40?
should i even bother?
i've also got some pics i can email over to you if that helps
