I think I messed up a amp after getting a boost. Long story, needless to say I was on a road trip and had no bass and had to replace the battery.

wow, i think he may have gotten screwed @ crappy tire.
most cars will blow the fusable link or main fuse.the only way to blow the alt to smithereenys is to hardwire it and then reverse boost it.
if i were him, i'd check the work order for parts, and if they didn't bill for fuse or link. check for signs of replacement(i can put money on it!!)

The new digital power supplies in amps and the digital processers have a more petite design, and can not take voltage spikes. Has this been showing up as a weakness as far as returns go? his is what concerns me when I jump, or get jumped.
i think anytime you have a piece operate out of its normal range there is a risk of damage
as in the digital amps i can't see why the power supply would be any different than a ab supply
as in the digital amps output is almost the same design as the normal pwm power supply
they essentially work under the same priciple

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought you meant boost as in "steal" a car.

I was thinking the risks involved could include:

getting shot
getting arrested.

My uncle has a 1998 Chevy 1500 and a 2001 GM Venture and he tells me that if you try to boost a car with either vehicles while they are running...you will fry the alternator. He said its happend to his truck once already. Im not sure why, but he said the newer GM's cannot boost a car while they are running....which sucks cuz then you get no juice out of it.
