Boosting AM radio reception

Boosting AM radio reception
I know I am not the only one to experience a drastic reduction in AM radio reception after installing an aftermarket HU. FM is not so great either Personally I listen to talk radio 50% of the time I am in the car(have to turn off the sub otherwise deep voices rattle my teeth :P). I have noticed in particular in 6 installs I have done of alpine cd players that the AM reception has been crap after the switch. Is there a way to boost this? I also figure it may help with interference on am radio... I have a CDA-9827 in a 93 accord.

AM reception
is based on a ground path to the vehicle. The better the vehicles ENTIRE ground plane, the better the AM. I have run into this lots as an installer and the best way that I have found (obviously based on vehicle) is to upgrade the antenna ground as well as grounding the antenna to the deck and making sure I have the least resistance possible in the deck ground. Lots of $%^ around but for those who need talk radio it works.

I've also posted about the really bad AM section in my alpine 9855.
In my old alpine 7559, am was bad, but not as bad as this.
I tried a filter, that cut am reception completely and reduced fm.
Then i bought the am/fm signal booster (canadian Tire).
They lied. It doesn't work on AM. Maybe an older version did am, but that one doesn't.
So, to help cut out the interference from the car's electronics, i treid a power filter.
Again, that did nothing.
Alpines AM sucks. I'm going to have to get a new HU just so the wife can get 680news.
But that would make 2 cd changers useless.......
So, if anybody finds a solution, let me know.
