Rockford Amp Repair
#31
Was google searching for a solution to my problem and ran across this thread so I know its old but hoping to get some answers. I tried to contact "dr. Fosgate" but apparently the email address given is no longer valid so any help here is appreciated. I picked up an old school Fosgate 400@4(like late 90's model when still made in USA the aluminum and black 1s) recently and it seems to have a major overheating problem. It will run for about 15-20 mins before going into protect mode then shutting itself down for 30secs or so and then will only run for 30secs or so before shutting down again.Im running a 4ohm load bridged, so running @ 2ohms and have tried even turning gains down below half way with little to no effect on the protection coming on. Actually I can even have the volume turned down all the way and it still shuts off. I'm running 4 gauge power and ground with about a 14" ground cable.I opened up the amp and do not see any noticeable signs of any failed parts,as in nothing burned on circuit board or protection strips.Do you have any suggestions of what I should do at this point?
