Thanks for coming out
^ grow up..
to explain myself, reverb causes us to hear differently then a microphone under dynamic conditions... a longer tone supplemented with reverb will look (normal RTA) and sound louder then a tone that lasts for a fraction of a second... (more like what we would find in music)
For this reason, it can be worth while to setup a system that has flat response while ignoring reverb...
Many people find some systems set flat on a regular RTA do not sound right... that is why...

Haunz, I have been doing this long enough to know SQ, but thanks for the lesson, it was close to being accurate
Dereck, people would set their cars flat to get a perfect 40 on the IASCA RTA section, this is because you can adjust between RTA and SQ sections........

Just for ****s and Giggles
Who has a fully functional aftermarket stereo system installed in the ride?? You know, EVERYTHING-speakers, wiring, soucre, amps, sound damping...etc
Oh Yeah, when I mean installed.....I mean the owner of the car INSTALLED IT all by themselves, not pay someone else to do it. Tim? Haunz?
You see, when it comes to searching for advice I like to get it from people who actually do it. Not just talked about it.
SQ is in the "ear" of the person setting it up.
That's my two cents, any got change??

DW, lots of people set their systems flat on an RTA and Ive heard of different shops promoting it... but the general idea (of course) is to set it flat then adjust by ear... my old man is pretty good at this, me not so much....
If you can ignore reverb while taking the reading its supposed to be alot easier to setup and get right. I know sound techs that have the equipment do this and they say it works well.

I install my own gear..
Edit: my experience setting up for SQ comes more from setting up pro audio equipment then it does mobile audio... I dont even have a real EQ for my car.. only a 'toy' 9band pioneer...

I want to know where the dips and peaks are and play with phase, Xover, placement, etc. Then bost / cut when absolutely necessary. I have an AC DQX with a DDC, so I can have 8 presets for the kind of mood I'm in / type of music. Flat response is nice when sitting still in some parking lot or stuck in traffic. Has anyone used a laptop with an RTA program with any success?
BTW, that Coustic piece looks really nice. Anyone want to sell me theirs?
