yes, deadening the doors would be dynamat. by far the cheapest would be to get dynamat off of ebay.

some people stand by different products saying the cheaper brands work just fine...but from my personal experience nothing works near as well as dynamat xtreme.

like N130Gv2 said, go to as many car audio places and listen to components.
...some people may argue but for the most part stay away from futureshop/best buy brands (mtx, rockford, phoenix gold etc.) old rockford and phoenix stuff is great ..new rockford is actually made by AC Delco ...soundstream is power acoustics
.
try out some hertz, focal, boston, even JL.
in your price range, check out the Polyglass series by focal. custom auto radio in whitby carries focal/image dynamics/hertz/ audison/pioneer/kenwood ...and thats right by you in courtice.

sony hi fi in whitby carries JL, Alpine, Focal

...you really need to hear the speakers in person, you would be amazed with the differences between tweeters in components...personally i like a natural warm sounding tweeter, lots of people like a bright crisp tweeter.
if you like a natural warm sound, look for more silk dome tweeters
bright and crisp, look for more metallic tweeters. etc

if you wanna hear some real components, i'll show you my car... got baby milles in the front and polyglass focals as my filler in the rear ....the MLK's are unbelievable ...but they are triple what you are looking to pay:S

Now if you do decide to get components, what normally replaces the speakers in the back? Another set of components?

Most people run a coaxial speaker in the back. It is difficult to install a set of components in the back without ruining your sound stage completely.

I would just run a 2 way for rear fill.

You can always get component/coaxials ... they are actually components controlled by an external passive crossover that connect the tweeter into the middle of the mid to make them a coaxial. Higher end sound in a small footprint.

There are many companies that make components that do this.

i agree with Smoke_31. the rear speakers are mostly just filler ...instead of spending a bunch of money on front and rears, put your two ways you have now in the rear, and spend twice as much on the fronts.
there is no need for components in the rear. many people don't run rears at all, simply the mids, mid-high, and highs up front.

.....like i said though, spend twice as much on the fronts and just move your current fronts to the rear.

What they said. ^^^ I am one of the guys not running rear speakers at all. Subs in trunk, 6.5 components in front doors. More than enough sound for anyone done right.

And to top it off, if you are interested in a deal on new components and some deadener, drop me a PM. I will keep you going in the right direction.
