Something cooking???
I recently has a Kicker ZX700.5 amplifier, Boston Z6 separates set and a Kicker 10L7 sub installed in my truck. From the first time I cranked it up, I noticed an electronics burning smell. It has pretty much gone away over the last week, but when I crank it towards the clipping point (lights begin to blink on my Kicker KQ5 para-eq) I smell it again.
My ZX700.5 amp (stable to 4ohm in bridged mode) is bridged to provide ~165 watts to the Boston separates set, which provides a 3ohm load to the amp. My Kicker sub is a 2 ohm dual-vc sub wired to 4ohm which shouldn't be putting too much of a load on my D-class monoblock of the 700.5, since it's 2ohm stable.
The Boston seps are rated at 125rms/250peak and the Kicker sub is 400rms/900peak so it shouldn't be smoking my speaks, I wouldn't think.
Am I pushing the amp too much or is this just normal break-in smell?

I'm going to go out to my garage and screw around with my gains. I'm thinking that may be the culprit. Just reviewed the gain adjustment threads here. Soemthing else my installer didn't config correctly, I guess....
