What happens if I put the speaker wires on the wrong way on one end? Will there be no sound? Bad sound? Speaker damage? I'm installing my MB Quarts and already finished one woofer when I realized that I might have the wire's backwards (the instructions are a little unclear I found). Is there a way I can test with a multimeter before powering them up? I can always just switch the wires at the crossover as it's easily accessable where as the back of the woofer isn't.

Thanks.

You can wire them backwards, without any damage. Playing with speaker polarity is one of the first things I do when tuning a system.

If the speaker is wired out of phase it will result in the two speaker working against each other. This means that when one woofer is moving outwards, the other is moving inwards. This is out of phase and results in a lack of definition and output, primarily in the bass response. A quick and easy way to tell is to play the same somg over and over and disconnect one woofer and listen to it each way a number of times. You will be able to differentiate between out of phase and in phase in most cases. In phase keeps both woofers moving the same direction at the same time and results in smooth and accurate bass response.
