static at mind volume help?

Hey all

This is going to sound a little stupid but its what I am working with. My old man wanted some subs in his truck which is fine but the problem is the amp that he is using had no high level inputs so his great idea was to tie rca jacks in with the high levels which actual works but when the volume is up too high or there is a CD running the front speakers have lots of static.

I am thinking it may be from the wires not be soldered and at high volume there may not be a good connection.

I told him that this may not work and that going with an aftermarket deck and a proper harness would be better but he wants to get this working.

FOR THE RECORD if this had been anyone but my dad I would not have helped with this as its a hardcore red neck install but this is what he wanted and when it comes to family well you all get the idea.

Can anyone give me any ideas on this I have run highs before but not like this.

why did you need subs hooked up the high level input? is it like the factory amp you guys decided to use or something?

Try using just the + off the speaker wire for the center pin of the RCA. Try with no connetion to the outer ring of the RCA and if that does not work well or you get noise try connecting to the deck chassis rather than the speaker - wire.
