Steering wheel controls

I know this was asked recently on this forum but I can't find the post. Sorry to ask again, but how can you use your stock steering wheel stereo controls with an aftermarket HU. If it helps it's on a friend's 2000 Dodge Dakota. Thanks.

Look here:

http://www.pac-audio.com/products/productsearch.asp

They have all sorts of controls. I like the ones that are direct connect to your head unit if it has that. If not use the IR universal type interface.

Let us know what you end un with and how it works.

Good Luck.

By chance if you had an Eclipse head unit, and by chance if you drove a Toyota/Lexus, most Eclipse HUs come pre-wired to work with the factory steering wheel controls. Not co-incidentally, both the HU and the car are built pretty much by the same company. And if you have trouble believing this, just remember that General Electric builds everything from jet engines to toaster ovens.
