stupid question

im pritty new to the whole car audio but one thing is bugging me. what does tuning your box mean..I mean i see everyone saying it like i tuned my box to 32hz and so on. can anyone just outline this general concept and help me out. i feel dumb asking. o well.
does it have to do with the box. because my buddy said it was the amp. im lost.

Tuning the box only refers to ported, or vented boxes. It's has to do with the relationship of the volume of the box to the area and length of the port.

Nothing to do with the amplifier.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, iLLlegal, as for answers that's a different story...

Sounds to me like your buddy may have been referring to setting the input gain and cross-over frequency on an amp when it is first installed.
