Just for the record ....both the shops were official Clarion dealers.....lol.

I found it really strange considering all the good reviews on clarion products omline....
which is better?....clarion or alpine?

They are both compairable in some areas and both have there signature pieces. If you are looking at subs I would say Alpine but the clarion is half the price. And does close to the same job. Also find it wierd that 2 Clarion dealers slammed they own product. Sounds like a great recipe for success.

I stopped carrying Clarion this year just because their head units are very unreliable and video was horrible to get from them this year. Back order after back order than their manufacturing warehouse got shut down and since then it has not been as good. I hope that Clarion does fix it's problems but they are not as good as in the past.

I would have to agree with that. It was impossible to fill orders this year for HU's and Amp's alot of customers got sick of waiting and gave up and bought something else.

Where exactly would I get PXW1251 for 150 taxes in?

Clarion's website lists them for 209 plus taxes.....

and would it pose a problem that it is only 2 ohm despite being a dual coil?

No a dual 2 ohm driver wired in series will give you a 4 ohm mono load which will work for your amp. Check with Selective Sound or Ebay.
