Unhappy system not working!

ok, just threw some stuff in my friends car..but its not working. it consists of the following:

clarion db-245 deck
stock speakers running off deck
profile california ca600m amp
concept ex-12 sub

the deck works fine and everything...but the sub doesnt...in fact, it seems that there is no power whatsoever going to the amp...im hoping its just a simple first time mistake... ive checked all the connections and everything and it all looks right...8 guage speaker wire going to battery with a fuse...everything is grounded properly...remote wire going to deck...rca cables...
nothing sparked or flashed...and i know for sure that both the amp and sub worked before they were put in the car...the only thing i can think is to check the amp with a voltmeter to see if power goes to and from it....
and i was also wondering if a crappy rca cable could be responsible for the amp not even turning on...cuz i think the rca cable might be crap...
but anyways, any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I would suggest check for 12+ volts at the amp, make sure the ground is good, check the amp fuse(s), if that checks out, all that's left is the blue remote (trigger) wire, make sure the remote wire is definitely connected correctly and the voltage is there when the deck is turned on, (you can try a new remote wire) from another 12 volt source to test the amp (fuse it to be safe). If none of that works, then....... you may have a dead amp.

update

ok, finally got the system working...there were a few minor wiring problems...thats what i get for getting a friend of a friend who says he knows what hes doing to help... but whatever, i got it figured out and it works...sort of
I have the sub wired in parallel to the amp, which i believe creates a 2ohm load, fiddled with the bass and level settings on the amp to try and get the most out of it...however, the amp has apparently gone into protection mode...which as far as i know means that something has blown or is wrecked inside the amp:s...the system still works, and while its not as loud as it should be it doesnt sound like anything is wrong(distortion or clipping or anything...) but just to be safe i unhooked it....
i figure ill open up the amp and check to see if any of the capacitors are blown or if anything looks fried...
open to suggestions

what kinda amp? what sub?just seeing if its 2 ohm stable , im assuming its a monoblock and you have a dual voice coil sub 4+4. i see you have them stated but not coil configuration, maybye 2+2?
while you got the volt meter out check the resistence of the sub, make sure its at 2 ohms

amps in first post...i think the sub is dual 6ohm...so it theoretically would create like a 3ohm load in parallel or something...ill voltmeter it to be sure tho

o...and i just realized that the recommended tuning on the crossover for htat sub is 35hz..but the amp only goes down to 40hz...not sure what to do about that.....

and my other thought outside of that was....will this setup work better if i was to wire the subwoofer in series instead of parallel?...that was what i was going to do originally...but then i thought that would only be good if you had more than one sub

the crossover means 40 hz and under, set it at like 80,then it will play everything under 80 hz .
as far as the set up goesif youre showing the amp a 3 ohm load, and the amp is 2 ohm stable, leave it or youll lose alot of power.

hmm...interesting...
turns out that nothings wrong with amp or wires or wiring... one of the "connector dealies" on one of the voice coils had the plastic base cracked, so the metal was touching and shorting out...just running it on one voice coil right now...will fix it later on tonight...
system sounds okay, considering how limited the eq options are due to the crappy deck...sub isnt quite as punchy or thumpy as i expected...but that could be due to the fact taht only one coil is running and that the box isnt secured down yet...
o well, thanks for the help everyone...any extra input is always appreciated

the amps not giving optimized power since you have a 6 ohm load to it so its givin less power,i dont thinkk its a gooed idea to run one of two vc either, fix it fast.you may ruin the sub.
