I love my job. I love being a part of this industry. My only suggestion is to surround yourself with people and products that you love. If you love something, then you will be sucessful at it.
There is BS in all jobs, but not all jobs are as fun as others. I find my job to be VERY fun. Any job is what you make of it. There is no problem with trying out a job, just make sure you get into the part of the industry that you like. Some people are not made out to be on the retail side, some are not installers.

You know, I just finished writing a VERY big, and epic message to Tim, which took two hours to write, so Im not totally (or should I say AT ALL) in the mood to write anything else. But I just wanted to say that Im sorry that you guys feel as negative toward Yuli as some of you do. I think its pretty damn amazing that he cares enough to spend his valuble time and energy helping out people with there questions. There aren't too many people that care enough to want to help out other people at all. Most people are so frickin' selfish that they just only deal with people, just so long as they can get something out of it. I know most of the Moderators aren't like that, and HardWrkr isn't either, but there are few caring and generous people like Yuli, that really are giving enough to spend their resources to help out other people. Yes you may be right, and say that sometimes Yuli doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, but I think for the most part he knows enough to still be a huge help to Car audio idiots like myself. I'd much rather have 90% correct info, from a few people that 100% correct info from no one. Which is IMO happens a lot to a CCA member like myself that happens to be very much disliked. I think of all the not-so-positive stuff I've said on the board, its great to have a phenominal gentleman like Yuli that still helps me out when no one else will. I wish you guys would see that. I dont really care if he is sometimes wrong, it is HIS OPINION, and that is never wrong. All the help he's ever given me has lined up perfectly with what a lot of other people had to say. Even if Yuli is sometimes wrong, I think you guys should be glad that you are blessed to have a generous helper like him on board with you guys.

positives were the ability to do what i like, which is the car audio installs. the shop owner was and still is a good spl buddy of mine, a very good installer at that in many aspects of the field, so there was alot i could learn, stuff that i have never done before. ofcourse the money offer was good as well. those were pretty much the positives from my point of view. As far as meeting diff ppl, i really didnt enjoy that. i come across alot of shady individuals involved in the business side of the car audio industry as a competitor as it is.
now the negatives did not have to do with the job in particular, nothing like a cold install bay or no christmas b/c of busy schedule. The biggest turn off was that there was really no where to move up to from that position. The way i saw it is that position offered no vertical progress, only horizontal. I have seen this with MANY installers in the GTA and some of these guys were pretty DAMN good at what they are capable of doing. Nontheless for the last 7 or so years all i saw was installers goin from shop to shop to shop to shop......and these are good quality installers!!! As you said yourself, no one would offer them the financial support to open their own shop or they just were not good businessman. There is only so much intrinsic reward that I can feed off of while occupying the same position. And being a 30+ years old installer at someone else's shop just isnt for me.

^^^ I used to be a sales guy for a Calgary Based store. I guess it all depends where you work. The install guys did sales when it was slow back there for more $$$$. Seemed like a great place. EconoSound in Calgary is an awesome place to go. Sucks to work there though
