Changing the topic screwed me up. I couldn't find the original thread from yesterday and figured you had deleted it lol.

Thanks for posting that, Perry B, very helpful. 1.7 volts at volume level 31, that blows.

Well, it shows the numbers. I have seen many complaints of "weak" alpine pre outs for 3 years or so that I have been on the forums. That guy just did the testing to find out exactly what was going on with that particular model.

Good that someone put it to the test. Be interesting to see what Alpine have to say about that.

This topic has come up before and I say the same thing every time. Why would Alpine change? When this discussion comes up, I am always amazed at the number of people who just say "well, that is what your gains are for." I don't subscribe to that notion. You pay for a 4 volt deck, you should get something approaching 4 useable volts.

Until Alpine starts getting tons of complaints, and sales go down, they will continue to make decks how they want and sell a billion of them.

Who knows, maybe the 04 decks are better, but I don't know if anybody is going to test a few models or not.

I think Alpine gets a free pass from many. If Eclipse or Pioneer had this issue, they would have been crucified on the forums.
