Trying to find a way to replace 2 10" subs

Hi folks,

This is my current setup:

2 Kicker Comp 10 Subs with a Kicker ZX300.1 amp. I'm looking to downsize but keep the bass. If I remember right they were rated at about 300 watts.

Here's my dilemna. Go with a single sub or replace the 6x9s in the back with something that can punch more bass through them.

I listen to happy hardcore, uk hardcore, gabber, trance, hard trance, goa, psy, eurodance, etc. The subs or 6x9s should be quite responsive. The currents 10s are actually pretty good compared to my buddy's dual 12s.

The car is a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with the Monsoon setup meaning the 6x9s in the back are those one of a kind speakers. If I need to modify the wiring, I will. I'm not afraid of that. I should mention that the strut bar sits right on top of the sub box. There is no give whatsoever. I also drag race my car so the whole reason for me doing this is to loose some weight.

Let me know, ask me questions, and shut down any inconsistencies I have. The caraudio scene has a lot of choices so I don't know where to start.

I have no idea what any of those are

So you want to downsize but keep the same level of bass? Sounds like a bit of a contradiction to me

I'd go with a more powerful amp (can probably find one that's only a slight bit heavier) and a better single 12" sub... put that in the right box and it will probably be what you're looking for.

, yes I know a bit of a contradiction. But if I loose some bass, it won't kill me. I know I'm currently not using the full 300 watts. The amp is turned down quite a bit. The only thing I'm afraid of is the lack of response from a 12" sub. That music that I listen to can be quite fast at times especially gabber and trance. I'm talking about 140/150 bpm and faster.

Get a 10" l7 off eBay and build a small porter box for it. You will save weight by cutting the sub to one but the l7 is a good woofer and if you go with a small potted box you will save weight on wood and also allow one sub to be louder than the two you have in a sealed box

Oh and if you really want to cut weight and go fast the best way of all is to get a new car LOL I have a g6 GTP and it's got power but I would never consider it drag worthy even if I did shave 40 pounds from the stereo

You meant ported right? Would I keep the current Kicker amp or replace it as well?

I'd love to get a GTO but I can't afford two cars. Right now this is my daily driver so it has to do. Plus the Grand Prixs are quite easily upgradeable. Right now I'll keep it until I win millions...lol.
