Turning off Subwoofers

You mean I'm the only one who has seen a household lightswitch inline with the sub speaker wire? No lie..

You mean that's not the right way to do it?....

Mounting them in the console is a pain too....

Thank You for the help from everyone! I decided I'll just put a switch (maybe a variable dial->potentiometer) in the dash beside the head unit to turn on and off the subs.

potentiometer sounds complicated. first thing, list the deck you have, unless you did already, I'll be honest I barely read anything after my post, until I saw Dukk and BRG. its simple really, when you turn your car off its the same thing more or less than turning off power to the amp through the remote wire. nearly every head unit with a subwoofer pre out has subwoofer controls, which probably includes sub on/off. the switch would be the second easiest thing, I think.

What are you trying to accomplish with a potentiometer? Volume control? If so, save yourself some grief and buy a ready made one.

Okay, I'll just put a switch in there, no need for the potentiometer.

i use a switch on the remote wire and thats all ... shuts the amp off
