Type X vs. W7
#1
I've been told that the 12" Type X out-performs the W7. I didn't quite believe it, but I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone's tested them out against eachother? Plus I'd like to know if the type X is worth buying for only listening to music, or is it made more for competition use.
thanks

Why does Nike advertise alot but how often do you see Saucony or New balance advertise?
Everyone I have spoken to about the type X says "the unfortunate thing is people will buy it cause it says alpine, but there is nothing special about it. Overhyped"
The most common discription "Very inefficient"

Never heard of Saucony or New Balance.......lol.
Why arnt the special products advertised then?
I am sure once people know how good they are that everyone would buy them. Dont get me wrong, I agree that the most popular usually isnt the best, but why not have the best being the most popular?

And on the issues I like the W7 I still have not seen a Type X in person but knowing alpine it's going to be a good sub. I have a full alpine system right now and I love it. Either or, you know there 2 top quality companys and neither product is going to suck.

have you ever noticed that a lot of really bad movies are advertised all over the place before they actually get to the theater?
RE is a small company and it can't afford the advertising that JL can, obviously. I own a 15"xxx myself and it's an amazing sub

LOL, the W7 is a vastly superior driver(though they charge an obscene amount for it).
If you can afford the W7 and want the better of the 2 drivers, it's a no-brainer.
30mm Xmax, totally flat BL curve, superior thermal powerhandling and the list goes on.
As far as the XXX goes, RE is a lesser known brand that's why they aren't seen as much. The upside with RE is that their price to performance ratio is amazing with every driver.
I also suggest looking at porting an Orion H2 15" They'll do nicely in 3cubes net, tuned in the lower 30's.
