have yet to install a type x in a car. we have 2 type x 10's sitting at the store right now. it sounds half decent in the board we've only got a mrd-m301 running to it right now (grossly underpowered) and the thing hits. and its a pretty damn sexy looking beast with the ladder surround, carbon cone, and the basket mmmm sexy. defro did a set of 12's in a car with 501's and he said they sounded pretty awesome.

i think your forgetting the brahma. the brahma is a great sub, basically the same as the XXX and again, they beat the W7 with the price to performance ratio.

Ok......I have heard the MTX 9500 even though they dont sell em here, you would be suprised what 18 year olds will do to get some. I was a judge at the 2004 annual street machine weekeds sound off, and let me tell you mtx did not perform to well in SQ and not very spectacular in SPL. I am just saying that I dont like them because from what I have heard in the competition and my friends rides, mtx has some issues to work out on their SQ. The SPL didnt do to bad....but there where alot cheaper stuff that did better. I just cant understand why half the people in Lethbridge use MTX woofers, but thats my opinion. The person that won the SPL contest was a guy with 1 15" eclipse titanium woofer pushing 157.56 decibles.

agreed, i've heard W7's, Type X's and 9500's.

w7 is far more superios over the others, but I would chose the type X over the 9500 for sure. As for RE XXX, i haven't heard one locally yet

The only cars I can remember with the 9500 series MTX where a 1998 Sonoma I believe, and a 1988 probe gt. I know more people that have them but those are the ones I remember for the competition. There was 2 12" in the Sonoma, and 2 10" in the Probe. The sonoma and the probe where both self installed with home made boxes, the sonoma with about 3 cubic feet per sub ported, while the probe had about 1.5 cubic feet sealed per sub. As far as where they got them....I know 1 friend of mine got his from ikesound.com and got his friend in the states to ship it up here. Where else they got them im not sure. Most of the cars as the competition were daily drivers, mostly because everyone has a system in Lethbridge. The guy with the eclipse is a buddy from school in a mazda 1/4 ton truck thats a daily driver (although the stereo got stolen 1 week after the competition). I guess I have not heard an MTX that was professionally installed for SQ, but nothing was professionally installed and many other things were better.
