Up firing subs in trunk?

I was wondering how safe it is to have up firing subs in a trunk? I want to put 4 12" IDQ's I have laying around in the trunk of my Contour SVT I just purchased, but for them to fit and for me to still beable to get my spare tire in and out without trouble they would have to be up firing. Would this be ok or is this a no no as something could end up sitting in the sub and wrecking it?

Also what about the idea of having like a triangle box like so: /\ with two subs on each side? The either have the box so that view is from the back and two fire out to each side, or turn the box a quarter turn and have two firing forward and two firing back? Or would this sound like crap due to cancellation and whatnot?

Any help appreciated!
Thanks

my subs are up firing. i don't hear too many issues.

that's a lot of subs and diminished trunk space.

given that contours are older, a lot of weight also on the back suspension.

getting to your spare will be a pain in the butt also with that much weight to lift or clear.

consider what i do...a few cans of temporary patch air

Yes if i have all four subs firing back then I need to have them all the way to the back of the trunk...making the spare impossible to get out without lifting the box. But if they were up firing them I could have the four in a square and have the box go all the way up to the back seat, and I think if I slit the cardboard cover over the spare I would beable to get it out without having to move or lift the sub box. I just know iv heard people say dont have upfiring subs as if a small stone or something fall on the sub and i start bumping them it can wreck the sub??
