Upgrading factory system questions
Alright so after reading through some of the e-mails you guys are obviously all way more knowledgeable then I am in regards to car audio so this is the place to ask noob questions. Basically I have a new 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara and I want to beef up the stereo while if possible keeping the head unit (cost and steering wheel controls). Does anyone have experience with these vehicles? I don't need a crazy system just a nice good sound with a little more boom. I have a decent mono amp and a 12" Kenwood sub in a box that I am going to use. My question is what else should I be doing? For example if for now I decide not to get a amp for the interior speakers should I even bother upgrading them? I have also hear that there are units you can get to clean up stock head unit sounds. I don't really know anything about those. Is it just a EQ or is it something else? I want to keep cost down and maybe add on over time. What is the best bang for the buck for now then like I said I can add on over time?

There are many products that improve factory deck sound. Good ones are not cheap. It all boils down to just how much you like them steering controls... lol
A new deck is the cheapest route. Then, there are external processors that will connect to your factory deck. Some give you everything from 30 band eq's to TA and Xover control. I know JL and Rockford make devices. I'm sure there are probably dozens of brands. They would still need a good 4ch amp to really make the difference.

Good aftermarket sound processors run from like $400+. Basically they make your factory deck run like a really high end aftermarket deck with extras. I'm not trying to discourage you from them. They are great at what they do. You keep all your controls and factory look. Many come with a display add on that you use to fine tune your system. I'm sure a couple vendors on here have something for you.
