What to do?
Paul, so you know, I do not consider you nor have I ever considered you a backyard installer and should I have made reference to it, it was done in haste or error. We share differing opinions and I stand firm on mine and you on yours.
This thread started with a comment on a distributor selling direct to a customer and cutting out a dealer entirely. Seems that you think that this is alright. I think it is not and others share this view as well it seems. You have in fact, confused this issue with one where a retail business competes with another retail business. In my case here, there was no other retail business to compete with. Competition is a part of business that I must face every day that comes from all angles. I too have angles of my own as every retailer does.
I am glad to see that you do not do work at home for other people and instead choose to work with your employer in that aspect, much respect to you on that front.

Well - not nothing but I certainly misunderstood the situation and misdirected my rant. Random customer + no local dealer = opportunity.
I'm not changing my opinion but certainly accused you wrongly and apologize for that.
I have to clarify:

I would never support a distributor eliminating a local dealer to sell direct.
