I have the CVR 15's, but if i had the bux, i'd skip the L5's and go to the L7's.
But, that would require bigger amps and that would require bigger alternator....
and my wife wants my car anyway.

i had an S10L5
i wasnt really impressed... yeah, it was loud, but it was also muddy and sloppy.
it ALWAYS sounded like the box had a leak, even though id sealed it quite well.

ive only heard a couple other installs with them and they were all muddy, so i cant say if it was a setup problem, but when i pay $200 for a sub, i really expected a lot better performance.

I've had 2 12" L5's over the years and I really liked them. Sounded great when in the right box. i had both a sealed and ported box for a single and either way it sounded nice. my friend now has one of the 12's and he loves it. depending on the application it can be a very tight responsive sub.

I run 2 12" L5's in my TRUCK in a fairly large enclosure and power them with 1000wrms. They got pretty loud at 146.1 on the TL and I compete in USACi SQ and won the SQ Pro class at Canadian Finals.

People that say solobarics have no place in SQ need to reevaluate their install, tuning and enclosure building skills. Just about any sub can be used for SQ but not as many can do both SPL & SQ at a competitve level.

If you plan on hitting competitions then spend the extra and get the L7's but if it's just for personal enjoyment the L5's will put a grin on your face.

I built a box for a guy with a pair of 10L5's, back in around 2004. 0.66cf per sub (sealed). They definetely hit pretty well, but weren't that clean. More of a "street pounding" sub than an SQL sub IMO.
