Is there any place online that will tell me what the stock speakers are in my car? (pontiac 6000 ) Once I get some time I will start taking stuff apart and look, but just wondering if I could find out online, thanks.

I would not repalce the 4x6's with 4x6's. Do some mods to fit in some 5 1/4's or make some kicks for a component set. I don't think it is even possible to make a good sounding set of 4x6 speakers.

Pioneer and clarion make,or use to make, a 4x6 that had a 3.5" or 4" speaker and a seperate tweeter. I did a 90's chevy truck that had 4x6 all around and we put those in the stock locations with a couple of rf 10's and it sounded really good just running off deck power. It was a sony deck that had built in hp crossovers than applied to the deck amplifier. For a budget system is was really crisp and clear. I can't say it had much midbass but he listened to trance all the time so it was perfect.

crutchfield.com has a decent guide that includes most cars.
