What would it take...

I believe it would take alot more exposure of the sport to get ppl interested. Shops will have to do more advertising. Maybe a couple shops can share expenses on higher $ ads, and hold multiple events in one weekend. The more exposure, the more ppl will find out about our sport. Shops will have to comunicate with each other and try to make events happen when they all can come out. Next year I'm going to really press this issue and try to arrange multi shows. Holding shows in conjunction with other types of car events could be one answer. I'm not familiar with the the show scene out in the East, but in the west there aren't many. I'm putting together a list of ppl who would be interested in being notified when shows are coming up. With this list, I can show the shops and clubs that there is a growing interest in the sport. Even if it's DB Drag event logo and a small invitation on their own advertisment. Holding Drags at car shows will get the attention of the competitors who own Mini trucks, etc. These type of guys always have projects on the go, and maybe we'll get some of them interested. It all boils down to Exposure, exposure, exposure.

This is going to sound gay but look at the success of International's show. Gotta be 150 cars there. Why? Well the commercials on the Radio helps and the flyers that everyone got in the mail the week before. It's all in the advertising. Who knows about the FX audio shows? Not many. Put some adds up on those Black things with legs (Id unnno what their called) and stick em by the road at the Edmonton Store. What is more of the shows were in Edmonton vs the Groove? Would that help? The shows have to be easy to get to and people have to hear about them. I know I tell everyone I know about the shows but thats just 1 person. Visions shows were in their flyers right? They did alright. Also Bret has a point there has to be more at the shows other than just the SPL part. I know I really enjoyed Autotemp's show in Calgary with the car smashing and other things they had. How about some Bikini girls

With the various different classes available to competitors now, you don't have to have that $10,000 install to win. You don't even need the big dollar equipment. As long as the install is done well, you can compete with relativly average equipment and be successfull. You have to start somewhere right?
It all depends on how serious you want to get with it, but to get out and compete can be done on a budget. Believe me, I did it.

I was almost always in the top 3 with less than 1000$ and I had fun. This year I have comited like 5k$ to SPL. It'll be just as fun but I might win more.
I enjoy more the people and such more than I do the winning.
Why can't people realize that?
