My fist system was in my 1988 Cavalier Z24.
Diamond Audio (made by Mitsubishi) AM/FM/Cassette. It had only 1 stereo pre-out.
Ran the front speakers off the deck, i think they were pioneer 2-way 3".
Ran the rear speakers, Marrantz 5-way 6x9's of an alpine stereo amp that did 80 wrms.
It Rocked!! People used to tell me it was great. I remember telling people you didn't need subs if you had enough power on the 6x9's.
Traded in the 88 for a 92 Z24 and started again.
top line Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette (with Dolby C)
Rear was 2 Pioneer GM-H200's, 300 wrms each, made my own 6dB speaker crossover and used Pioneer 12" free-air subs and 6x9 3-ways, then upgraded to 4-ways.
Front was 2 Alpine stereo amps @ 70 wrms per channel. Kicker 2-way 3" on the dash and MTX black gold 5-1/4" in the doors.
People told me i should have competed.
About 94 i added first a 6 pack CD that skipped, then a 12 pack that skipped less.
Moved all this into my 97 Z24.
Most of it was stolen in 98.
Upgraded to Alpine 7559 casstte and 12 pack. The alpine didn't skip near as much. Still got it.
Gave the amps to my future Son in law. Sold him the pair of 12" free-air W303-F subs for $50.

(GrizZz here, wife's PC)
My very first system... Not my first car, but my first system... hmmm...
That woulda been the bi-amp Jensen head unit in my '73 Plymouth Sattelite. That was.... mid-80's. It was a really sweet HU. Can't remember the model though. 6x9's in the rear dash, and Pioneer "Tune-up" speakers velcroed to the front doors.
