Sounds like you're going pretty far in life.

i recall mine, i used 1/2'' mdf because i was too cheap to buy a full 3/4'' piece. then i just covered it with heavy felt b/c i thought that's were all the magic came from. little did i know that it's all about the sealing.
i also thought that pretty boxes worked better - boy was i ever wrong now my boxes usually look like poo, but they can (usually) pound; with the exception of boxes found in brown or black colts using square subs.
anyway, next year i will hopefully have not only loud, but pretty boxes as well. i plan to do paint jobs on most of them...
Ouch, sorry V.O. LOL

my first box was sealed pretty good but that's only cause of the 3 bottles of caulk that was used trying to cut everything free hand with next to nothing for tools oh yeah they came out pretty! I borrowed a box from a buddy I told him like 1 year ago or more and man it's so sad the bottom is all hacked up to try and make it even. It would do more justice being burned then being put to use.

Don't paint it. Cover it in vinyl, the 5mm stuff found usually at a local sign shop
