im sorry but alpine type x's arent one of the top SQ subs out there, it might be one of the top Sq subs for the money but not one of the best ever. I wont ever buy any sub made on a production line ever again, DD, Re, Fi and even atomic, they are tough subs and can take alot of power. I can think of a handful of subs id rather have then a type x for the same price.

Production? Why should that have anything to do with it? I live in a town that had a company that hand build hundreds of speakers a day. I'm not interested in name brand or anything other then sound reproduction. I would be interested in the engineering behind a product though and QA. DD and RE were two brands I listened to when doing my research. In the end, Alpine is in my trunk!

I think most will agree that Alpine's F#1 status equipment is top notch. Alpine spared no expense when putting the system together, I mean they have front component speakers for 5000.00, a 3000.00 head unit, etc...However, they use the type x sub for the system. This tells me they're pretty confident of it's sq abilities. If they weren't, they could have developed an F#1 sub and charged 1500.00 for it...and nobody would blink! After all, what's another 1500.00 in a system with components worth 20,000-25,000! Just my take...

The best thing I heard on this forum was everyone has an opinion just like an . And they all stink! just try to listen as many setup as you can then think for yourself I think. you already have an idea what you want so your one step closer on getting your sound that your seeking for. Thats my 2cents.

Problem with listening to systems though is a bad box will make any system sound terrible, and there's not many people that get a proper box for there subs. They just buy whats on the shelves.

I read tons of reviews when I buy subs to get a general opinion. If your listening to a system, it's not worth anything unless it a specific box made for the sub.

defently true about the box, box plays a big part on the sound. but im not quite sure what happens when the box is to big or to small any one tell me. i just know if you got a shitty box the sound will not be quality just from experience

i think its all about what your looking for personally i think that two of these:

http://mobile.jvc.com/Aproduct.jsp?modelId=MODL027927&pathId=145&page=1

Sounded better than two type x's but the jvc's were in a ported box and the x's were in a sealed box. like many others have said, its about what you think would be great to listen to when you want.

i would spend a couple days going from stereo store to stereo store and asking to hear w.e. sub in w.e. box. remember they want to make a sale so make them work for it
