When do you need another Batterey? Capacitor?

Hey all,

Quick question about batteries and capacitors.

How much amplifier power before you should acquire an additional battery?

When does a capacitor become important?

They way I understood the capacitor was, it would charge, releasing for better response? Alleviating strain on the amplifier and improving performance? If i'm right, is one ever actually required? Is there significant gain from one?

I have never used one, but I am running around 400RMS and i'm thinking about increasing significantly.

Thanks.
Nathan

I was always told that you only need another battery when you listen to your stereo with the car off for long times...and from what I read here, caps are a big no no.... and they actuality rob amps from your amplifiers,,, but they do look cool!!

do not quote me on this but if i remember correctly reading on forums somewhere around the 1-2krms you would need a second bat. you could run a second bat to either eliminate dimming and or listen to car off as basstoy stated. but you could fix that with a big bat upfront. i had a 2nd bat and when i was at a shop when i bought my new sub he cleaned up my install and told me to ditch my second bat and just get a big one up front and untill that happens i have huge volt drops and dimming. so just do research. also caps are a no no from what ive read, from what basstoy said to also putting a strain on your alternator.

if your lights is dimming with the bass you need a battery
a cap is OK but i think it is a wast of time a cap is used to stiffen the power to you amp
white quick charge and discharge
