Will 4 awg be ok??

oh ok thanks for the clarification guys

last year i was running a rockford fosgate t1 sub rate a 600rms @ 2ohm

will there be a noticable difference with the alpine type X 12"??

One other to ask when buying the wire is "Where is this made?" You'll find that stuff made overseas will be a lot cheaper - but there is a reason for that. A difference between "Gauge" and "American Wire Gauge (AWG)"
Overseas products call a wire a higher gauge based on the jacket thickness. AWG looks only at actual thickness of the copper and doesn't care about the jacket - hence AWG is the true test of current capacity, and most of the tutorials and guides on which wire to use for how many watts or amps are assuming you'll be using AWG not the unregulated overseas Gauge, so be sure to buy AWG wire.

Next time your at a shop ask if you can compare - most shops do stock both: AWG for the enthusiast; and overseas stuff for the cheapskate. At the shop in my town the price difference on 0 AWG and 0 Gauge was huge. $7.00 / foot 0 AWG vs $3.00 / foot 0 Gauge. But looking at the wire, the cheap 0 gauge stuff was only marginally larger than 4 AWG so really the price difference per foot makes sense.

Crazy stuff when standards get thrown out the window for making products cheaper.
