I've got a Type R and I have also seen numerous videos showing that it can take over 1000W no problem.

Instead of thinking about right now, look at the big picture and plan into the future, so you can add a second sub and get more power out of it later.

Decide how far you want to be able to go in the future.

If you decide your maximum is going to be 2 subs...
I say get the dual 4 ohm now, and wire it in parallel to 2 ohms, and then when you end up getting a second, put that other sub in parallel and have them wired for 1 ohm total load.

For the time being yes, but I would say you'd want more than 1200W split across two subs.

I would say see if you can find an amp rated at 1000W@2ohms and 2000W@1ohms.

That way, you have 1000W for 1 Type R by itself, and another 1000W for a second. Nice and balanced.

The RMS on the TypeR is 500W. Having 1000W available for it would be alright. I'd listen to that sub with 500, 750, and 1000W hooked up to it. 500W might be enough to get the sound out of it that you want.

Our Brutus BXi amplifiers are all 1-Ohm stable but also they run at 4 or 2-Ohms for a much tighter bass response.
The higher the resistance the more efficient the amp is at controlling the power, resulting it tighter sound. Maybe look at an amp that puts out more power at 4 ohms. That way you're getting the best of both worlds. I have no idea how much that BXi1208d can be purchased for. You might find something comparably priced, that can operate at 4 ohm and deliver more power.
PDX-1.1000 <<< LINK. Alpine amp, 1000W @ 4 or 2 ohm. Not an inexpensive unit though. I wanted to make sure they were available before I went opening my mouth.

I have a feeling that the Hifonics amp is less expensive.
