would a grill for my sub be smart??

I am thinking about getting a grill for my sub just to stop it from smacking something hard and ripping a hole into itself. would that be a good idea? and what would be the best grill for a 12" alpine type x??

thanks in advance for any replies.

need to do something custom. some companys like JL Audio make there owns line of speaker grills that fit the subs perfectly.

your best bet is to get something like 1/2" EMT from home depot and bend it to shape. use the example from JL AUdio's prowedge sealed enclosure for the W7

I don't trust myself with doing that lol and if I messed up it would defeat the whole purpose of getting a grill so things don't get smashed into my sub.

I've still got my 12" woofer grille from Radio Shack, or the Source, or whatever they are calling themselves this week. It's kind of a dull flat black square mesh, but it does the trick. Do a quick google search, I'm sure you'll come up with something dirt cheap
