I missed that too...dude you're running a combination that's incorrect and you're complaining?? The amp is clearly rated at 2ohms, and you have a combination that's 1ohm...your dmm means nothing as speakers impedance changes drastically when playing...that's why a much smarter phd engineer gives us a nominal rating to match components up with. You can't trash equipment when you can't even hook it up right!!

^ lol exactly. You run a 1ohm load on an amp rated only to 2ohms and then call the AMP junk? Sounds like a defective install...

And impedance rise should never be counted on. Often the rating for an amp is into a nominal load. That means straight up math, no counting on outside factors to counter for bad system design.

ya.....all true......shotty install ....not quite.....but in my experience i've alway been able to overdrive amps with no problems, always pushing the limits, i had my ppi pc1800 @ 1/2ohm no problems, i had extra fans but that was a daily pounder, maybe the alpines are more finicky, or it just needed more power......and it does pound, and he shoulda ordered dual2's, but thats what he brought me to put in, we'll see what way more current will do!!!!

x2^^^^^ exactly......i was only sposed to build a box for a couple subs, that turned into putting a new amp in and all this jazz......theres only 2 shops in penticton and NEITHER are helpful, they just sell whatever to whoever.....
next time im gonna tell em gimme ur money, and I'll make it thump, not this bring me stuff and make a diamond outa dogshit....not that alpine is....
by the way its finished now......re-ran bigger wires to everything, and its working VERY well....its not clipping.....hits tight and friken hard, and seems to be stable......we'll see what happens!!
if it seems like it wants to get hot maybe I'll series in a 2 ohm resister? bring it back up to 2ohm! sound quality loss on a sub amp in a ground pounder isnt that big a deal !!!
hehehe

Just because you can push some equipment doesn't mean you can push all. That's why these companies put ratings on things.

You should do this, and make sure to record what happens when you start playing music. The fire/explosion [of the resistor] or the fact that you bought a 500W resistor will be very entertaining. Either way the viewers wont lose.

i dont get it.....ur sayin the resister would blow up? done it before and it worked, also heard of many other people doing it to try to lower impedence to get more power, it worked but all the extra power was absorbed by the resister, but im not lowering, im raising, so either way i'd be losing power.
It was just a thought..........but now i think ihave him convinced to bring the amp back and get a real amp!!! found a nice little 1ohm hertz online 1000watts......haha he wouldnt buy mine......its only 2k? i dont get it....those subs would rip on 2k
