Alpine CDA 9885 sub problem
#22
There are 3 options for the RCA's on the head unit. It is hooked to the subwoofer. I have toyed with balance, fade and such. The only ones that effect the sub at all is the bass and subwoofer settings. I'm just not used to the bass effecting it. I have the subwoofer maxed out on the head unit and I adjust the amp with the remote if I want it turned up or down. I'm thinking this head unit doesn't separate the sub from the rest of the options(bass, treble, etc.) like my other one does. I wont be able to completely turn the bass off to my stock speakers, but I should be able to get it pretty low and still have some bass from the sub. I'm not trying to win any contest so I think I will be able to manage and get it to where it sounds good.

try turning the bass control down half way , you can also try adjusting the settings on the amp , the reason why you have less control on the speakers is because they arnt amplified by a seperate amp for the speakers would allow you to really dial it in

That's what I did. I turned the bass down as low as I could and adjusted the amp to get the sound I wanted from the sub. I'm happy with how its working now. I can turn it all the way up and not have the stock speakers buzzing like crazy. Now Its time to move to my other truck. I think it is supposed to be fairly warm tomorrow so I'm tearing the seat out, replacing all the stock speakers and running new amp wires. I have one speaker that's blown.
