Which amp to use?

I have a buddy of mine wanting to do the SPL comps this spring, we have picked up 2 12inch Rockford Fosgate HX2 subs 1000Watts 500rms each, with Dual voice coil.

Our question is which amp would be good to power these subs for SPL, would like the amp to go down to 1ohm if possible, not sure how much these subs can handle but from what I heard these subs can handle alot more then rated, anyone with experience on these subs post some feedback.

thanks guys

Are they a Dual 4 or Dual 2? if its dual 4 you can wire down to 1 ohm, if its dual 2 you cant.

I would recommend a Rockford T1000 monoblock to be honest. I hate mismatched stereos, and this amp will provide plenty of power for those subs and its stable at 1 ohm.

I agree!!! ^^ Cost is a major factor though, but it will outperform!! (good thing)

The subs are dual 4ohm, with 3inch voice coils. I will get pictures of the subs up soon. How much over their power rating can these subs handle?
