the magnet must displace more with one, than the other.
each sub likes it's own unique box,it's pretty much trial and error

your wrong bottom line D3s are not 1.6db louder at 0.25 than 0.5

What a sad thing to call a "test".

Did you also leave the car running some of the time, switch head units a few times and change other variables? Might as well have.

All you have proven is that the may be close in score.

Um....I do a lot of "testing" and this needs more work to be called "fair"

Sure I test SQ stuff, but there are a few things that could have been done to make your conclusion more scientific. I'm sure X could point you in the right direction...

LOL you really don't know anything about SPL obviously...I would like to know exactly what variables you think are going to change the SPL 1.6db...bottom line is that we tried two boxes...sure the impedance would have been nice to have the same but it will not make a 0.6db differance anyone that knows a damn thing about D3s will realise that...surely it won;t make 1.6db differance and I know that regardless of what I do my car hits the same number every time...also Chris had his car on the charger before his tests so that was fine too...you guys are REALLY closed minded the only flaw with this is the impedance but since it definately doesn't make 0.6db differance the APXs are louder maybe only by a bit in chris''s box but by alot in my box...perhaps in small boxes the quantums will take over but obviously the larger the box and port the less the quantums like it...all I was doing was reporting our personal findings so perhaps people in similar situations will find it useful when making a decision. I have been in SPL longer than probobly anyone on this forum and I know that if I read this test and had a relatively large box in a trunk (which alot of people do) I would buy the APX so it is a useful peice of information

^^ I agree.

Sure, I would never quote these exact numbers because the testing isn't accurate.

The point is still valid though. APX = louder.

There is no way a D3 is 1.6db louder going from .5 to .25.

with a little bit more testing and finding what each sub likes better ex: box size, port and keeping coils the same and being able to apply the same power to each sub will make a big difference in you test results... hey we have a long hard winter here... it'll be fun

first competition of the year will be
January 8 or 9th 2005 I havent set a date yet

This was never supposed to be a true test of 1 sub vs another just 2 people screwing around 1 day.. (me and Tom have both been around long enough to know that if it were a "end all be all" test - all variables would have to be the same) - You guys should know that..

Next time we just wont post our results
