current clipping with the reduced load, power compression, and the difference in resonance and impedance are the real world factors involved in actual spl gain...

If the amp wasn't current clipping, I would expect anywhere from no gain at all to more then 2db as I said earlier...
Sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. If you look at current world records (lets use the "best of the best") the increase when going to double the amps/subs (ie ext 1 to ext 2) is NEVER 6db.

In fact, in a couple of the cases the "lower" class is louder.

Theory is all nice and fine, but in the end all competitors care about are real world numbers.

btw.. this thread is closed. The discussion is interesting but the name calling needs to stop.
