I was just wondering if you could use drywall mud (not sure the real name of it) instead of bondo to round out the edges of your port.

I've got some of it laying around at home and I'm wondering if I should go out to get actual bondo or if I could just use this stuff instead...

I have a feeling that drywall mud might crack when the box resonates.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that. I was also planning on putting a layer of resin over top, would that help?

I assume that bondo isn't as brittle?

hey man i'm unsure if i understand your question. I wouldn't use any outside material to flare my ports personally. If you are using pvc just round them with a router and a round over bit! Then smooth them out with some lacquer thinner on a rag!! I hope this helps, let me know!

Dude i think after re reading your question that you may be asking about slot ports if so try short hair fiberglass! You can buy it at any canadian tire and it is far stronger then bondo!

Jordy use bondo body filler, its cheap and very liquidy when u mix it. u can get 3 liter cans from wal mart for $25 bux. one can was enough do to all my corners and even the whole box on every wall inside, and i still got some left that im gonna put on the outside.

the other stuff mentioned is actially long strand fibreglass(kitty hair ) just dont buy the canadian tire stuff... buy the stuff from partsource...its in a galon jug and s awsome..thats what I use...the only thing is make sure to mix it well cause the stuff at the bottom settles and is sometimes dry

Heh... to answer both of your posts. I'm not using it for ports. I'll be using aeroports for that.

I'd be using it in the corners of the box to round them out.

B2B/Yuli/MTA... thanks guys. I had no idea that Kittyhair & Bondo were so cheap.

For the sake of $25 it only makes sense to use the real thing
