Going in my first SPL comp...
like Justin said, what your buddy percieves as louder can in fact, be quieter.
Alot of it has to do with your box being sealed. That being said, sealed boxes usually create much lower frequency's.
Lower freq. always seem louder to the ear. They're more violent, so it would indeed sound louder. Even if, it really isnt.
Im going with everyone else. 137 ish.

my opinion on this guys, with having had a type X. I think the alpine type x is too over rated in terms of power, Alpine sacrificed too much spl for better SQ. The type X is a SQ sub all the way. I switched from the X and an Alpine 1000.1 amp to a Kicker L5 - almost 2wice as much SPL. but significantly lower SQ.
My 2 cents..!

Hellfire, I put a Type X 12" sub in a Viper with a 1200watt Alpine amp. 1.2 ft3 and it does 142 with the pressure mic. So I believe you car might be capable of 140+.
If you want to see the Viper it will be on display at the Audiosource show this Sunday.
